Our Story

The idea for The Heuristic Academy was developed by Mrs. Carlotta Singh, a mom and teacher, who left the traditional classroom to homeschool her kids, desiring an up-close and personal influence in her kids’ education.

Over six years, having recognized the benefits of homeschooling which includes:

• The ease with which the kids worked in a less restricted environment

• The well rounded and affordable online curricula used

• The remarkable success the kids readily demonstrated in grasping, retaining and applying key concepts,

• Individual attention

• Flexible schedule and portability (access to lessons on the go)

• No homework, happier kids and less stressed parents

The decision was then made to offer the same kind of educational opportunities to other families who may have a similar desire for their kids, but are unable to do so personally.  

The Heuristic  Academy therefore, was created to provide elementary, middle, and high school students an alternative American curriculum, with a STEM/STEAM based focus, here in the Bahamas. Our school utilizes highly accredited online curricula that allows students to work independently while still having the resource of a classroom teacher or subject specialist to guide this learning process. Students are also offered traditional classroom interactive courses as trimester electives.

Our curriculum facilitates student preparation for core national examinations and  standardized American examinations. Students will have the opportunity to prepare for the application process for local and international universities.

Our electives include foreign languages in addition to STEM/STEAM programs thereby diversifying the students’ transcripts for a well-rounded academic experience.

Our students will interact with the local community through philanthropic efforts, thus fully immersing themselves in the human experience.
